I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than twenty-five years of experience helping couples, families, and individuals navigate challenges, transitions, and cross-cultural issues.
Having lived and worked in both the United States and France, I understand the complexities of bi-national and bi-cultural relationships, expatriation, and raising families across languages and countries.

A rediscovered step of understanding and tenderness.
A rediscovered step
of understanding and tenderness.
Couples come in for guidance, deeply disappointed in one another as well as in themselves. They often struggle with self-blame, guilt, loss of self-esteem, and emotional rawness, triggering issues from traumatic past events such as fear of abandonment or previous betrayals.
Symptoms can range from unexpected physical ailments, changes in patterns of eating or sleep, and lack of sexual desire, to moments of deep depression and overwhelming anxiety. Often, mutual empathy and patience have disappeared and been replaced by blame, retreat, and dismissal. There is what I call an “empty pillow” between the couple. This can lead to emotional or sexual attraction to others, alcohol, or other destructive behaviors.
I will help you reach towards each other rather than away from each other, thus gradually healing together your inner wounds.
“We were stuck in the same disagreements for years. With Vivian’s guidance, we finally began to hear each other rather than defend ourselves. The calm returned before the love did — but it returned.”
C. and M., married 12 years
“We came to therapy unsure whether to stay together. Vivian helped us move from blame to self-awareness. Whatever happens next, we speak with restraint and greater respect.”
A. and S., couple in transition
A calmer rhythm returns when everyone is finally heard.
Family sessions help parents and children hear one another differently — what is no longer said, or what is said too harshly.
I work with parents and children together or separately depending on age and needs (children ages 5–10 with regular parent sessions).
The goal is to ease conflict, restore communication, and bring more peace into the home.
“Our six-year-old son cried every morning before school. Vivian helped us understand his fears and guided us toward calmer mornings. He is now happy to leave in the morning, and we can go on with our day.”

“After our second child was born, our daughter became jealous and angry. Vivian helped us listen differently, set calm limits, and restore balance. Home feels lighter again.”

Leaving home, beginning studies, or taking first steps toward independence can be both exciting and destabilizing. Therapy offers space to pause, refocus, and regain steadiness when confidence falters, emotions overwhelm, or direction feels unclear.
Sessions help young adults understand themselves better, recognize limits, and build confidence in their decisions and relationships.
“I had trouble managing university stress and finding my place. Talking with Vivian helped me understand my emotions and regain confidence in my choices.”
Clara M., 19
“After high school, everything felt confusing — studies, friends, the future. Vivian helped me regain clarity and balance.”
Noé L., 18

Through our work you will develop more awareness and with the use of new tools you will feel stronger, and more in charge of your well being. Indeed, one can feel so depleted of motivation and hope that symptoms of anxiety and depression become overwhelming and create negative impact on personal and work relationships.
Living between countries or languages changes the way we see ourselves. Therapy can help name what feels lost, what is being built, and the emotions behind expatriation.
The goal is to regain stability, create friendships and integration, and maintain a continuity that honors your personal history.
“After a move abroad and a separation, I felt unsteady and unsure where to begin. Vivian helped me understand what was shifting inside and rebuild at my own pace.”
A.M., expatriate client
“Living between two countries, I often felt I belonged nowhere. Through our sessions, I learned to live the best of both worlds and build roots and relationships.”
N.D., long-term expat
